Description
The Playful Notebooks – Achilles
Achilles’ mother, the Nereid Thetis, wanting him exempt of his mortal being, dipped him when he was born in the magical waters of the river Styx, holding him by his left heel. When he grew up, Achilles led the campaign of the Trojan War, acting as a tireless warrior and a protagonist of Homer’s Iliad, embodying the heroic ideal. According to Homer, he died by the poisoned arrow of Paris, guided by the god Apollo piercing the only vulnerable part of his otherwise immortal body, his heel.
