Description
The Playful Notebooks – Odysseus
For ten years, Odysseus fought in Troy. It would take him yet another decade, traversing strange lands and hostile seas, before he could return to his homeland. Both hero and antihero, cunning, courageous and tortured, the mythic king endured a furious Poseidon, the flesh-eating Cyclopes, the insatiable Laestrygonians, the sweet song of the Sirens and Circe’s lure of immortality, as he longed to return to Ithaca. Thus Odysseus became the archetypical wanderer and the Odyssey, the quintessential paradigm of nostos and one of the most emblematic works of world literature.
